I just can’t seem to wrap my head around the fact that we live in a world today where the Bible is depicted as being outdated, fictional, irrelevant, and not valuable. And the sad part is, that those of us who profess to be Christians are adapting that line of thinking and most without even realizing it.
We waver in our core belief of the fact that the Bible is the very Word of God and are instead adopting the non-Christian view that it’s a book of fiction written by mere men. And because we don’t fully trust in it, we stop reading it which leads to lack of knowledge. Hosea 4:6 clearly says that “my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge”. Looking at the world around us, it is evident as Christians compromise their beliefs, standards, morals, faith, and lifestyles.
There is a common saying these days: “it’s not that serious”. But I’m here to tell you, this is VERY SERIOUS! Any Christian who willingly lacks knowledge of Scripture/deliberately chooses not to read/learn it, is set on a path of destruction – destruction of mind, which ultimately leads to destruction of body.
Little do we realize, that Satan preys on this “lack of knowledge” more than anything else.
I Peter 5:8 – “Be careful—watch out for attacks from Satan, your great enemy. He prowls around like a hungry, roaring lion, looking for some victim to tear apart.” (TLB)
Stop wishing bad things on your enemy!
Proverbs 24:17-18: “Do not gloat when your enemy falls; when they stumble, do not let your heart rejoice, or the Lord will see and disapprove and turn his wrath away from them.”
Sooooo I guess I need to stop envisioning him falling down the stairs, getting hit by a car, or viciously attacked in an alley? Can I even smile…..just a little bit? I have to admit, this verse definitely slapped me in the face – hard! Because not only was I waiting for my enemy(ies) to fall, I’ve been praying for it, dreaming about making it happen and everything. Smh, talk about an attitude adjustment. This is just one example of how God is convicting me as a person. And here you all thought I was going to address “bigger” issues that society shines lights on like alcoholism, abuse, pornography, adultery, etc. Nope, I’m talking about dealing with issues within me, that only the Bible addresses. Those things that go on in our hearts/minds that no one knows about except God. Those inner sins, demons, habits, attitudes and behaviors that I need to work on to become a better me.
